Lead Evaluator: National Science Foundation “Math-Science Partnership” research and training grant ($12 million for 5 years, funded as a subcontract from University of Colorado at Denver) to increase the quantity and quality of math and science teachers at the middle school level in Colorado (approximately $13,000 per year for five years).
Principal Investigator: U. S. Department of Education supplemental award (funded as a subcontract from the National Dropout Prevention Center, Clemson University) to support the development four research syntheses in dropout prevention ($50,000 for 9 months).
Senior Researcher: U. S. Department of Education (RSA) research contract (funded as a subcontract from The Study Group, Inc.) to conduct a national assessment of policies and practices supporting the transition of youth with disabilities from school programs into vocational rehabilitation services.
Principal Investigator: Bohemian Foundation research grants ($16,000 for 2003-2004; $24,000 for 2004-2006) to examine the effects on middle school achievement of attending a dual-language immersion elementary school. I have no funded time on the project but use the funds to support a doctoral student – Diego Vega – to do much of the research and writing.
